The Traditional Wedding Culture in uttrakhand (INDIA)

Uttarakhand was formed on 9th November 2000 as the 27th State of India, when it was carved out of northern Uttar Pradesh. Located in the foothills of the Himalayan mountain ranges, it is largely a hilly State, having international boundaries with China (Tibet) in the north and Nepal in the east. On its north-west lies Himachal Pradesh, while on the south is Uttar Pradesh. It is rich in natural resources especially water and forests with many glaciers, rivers, dense forests and snow-clad mountain peaks. Char-dhams, the four most sacred and revered Hindu temples of Badrinath,Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are nestled in the mighty mountains. It’s truly God’s Land (Dev Bhoomi). Dehradun is the Capital of Uttarakhand. It is one of the most beautiful Places in the sub-mountains tracts of India, known for its scenic surroundings. The town lies in the Dun Valley, on the watershed of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

The Wedding Culture Of Uttrakhand State in North India is mostly different from whole of the world ,

In the festival of the matrimonial In Garhwal  region Uttarakhand, The Boy which going to marry  her,have to go to her parent’s   house with some relative and friends called BARAAT .

 Baraat having  some music bands etc. somebody making two-day feast and someone one day. There are folk music dances and many types of the dishes for the party ,yes doesn’t matter  where and what are you working, after sometimes people want to join this feast  and enjoying eating food and dance means to say that people’s taking leaves from office and join to matrimonial party.and all relative are very happy.

  1. You have some beautiful photos here. We almost were to come to India before I became ill. But we were going to Madras to work in a mission hospital there. Some friends did make it to the Northwest part of India. I’m glad it is called God’s country. That is what my grandfather called Kansas, USA, also!
